Why You Should Consider Travelling After University & Why I Am Combining Travelling & Study
The answer to the second part of my Title is easy: because it's cheaper. As for Part I: As a, for me, great 2013 comes to an end, and everybody starts making lists, reviews, pre-reviews and more about the past 2013 and for the coming 2014, I as well am making big plans for the new year. Realizing that travelling and experiencing life the way I love to is expensive and thus inachievable without a good savings account, I decided to combine my future plans and dreams (of travelling the world, you know...) with my probable future in the marketing & communications sector. As off mid January I will start a Masters in International Marketing at Coventry University. So bring on 2014!

People Are Awesome
I posted a similar movie a two years ago: People Are Awesome 2010, and last year: People Are Awesome 2012. You have to admit it, it makes you want to leave the house and never come back, just to discover all those beautiful places, right?

Life as an exchange student
Exchange year is not an easy thing,
but through those different experiences,
you learn how to stand on your feet.
Every year, around summer time, I am remined of how excited I was to be able to leave to another country, another culture and another family. "This is a movie about exchange students in Denmark, from all over the world they are telling their experiences about their lives as an exchange student." Watching this video, reminds my of my experience(s) in Austria, Argentina and France, reminds me of how crazy those times were and reminds me of how much I have learned from it. Still every day I remind myself that I should thank my parents and family to have given me the chance(s) do to basically whatever I have wanted to do. I am not living in the past, but I do realize that all the things that happened to me made me the person I am today.

Visit Belgium, België, la Belgique, Belgien, Belgíca fast and easy
When visitors from other countries come to Belgium, I usually always take them to the same places. Not because I necessarily like these places so much, I do though, but also because it simply are the most known locations/cities/... of Belgium.

2013: Eastern Europe Eurorail Trip (EEET)
Today is a big day. With Toon, Heike and Liesbeth, the main compagnons of EEET2012 [Eastern Europe Eurail Trip 2012] we made plans for another trip. Off course, as awesome as we are, we came up with a very awesome name: Eastern Europe Eurail Trip 2013, or short EEET2013 - EEET'13! Original, right?
This is, again, not only a message which aims to make all you readers jealous about the awesome trip we will be making. Well maybe a bit. But more than anything, this is a call for all people who would want to join us for another legendary travelling experience.
Just like last time, Eastern Europe, according to the movie: Eurotrip
For now, there are two ideas. Yet to be determined where we will be starting/finishing defintely. But some of the places, including the Exit Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia, are already sure things. We would be leaving around June 28th and returning to Brussels July 20th maximum, which makes 22 days of living the good life...
Two possibilities at the moment:

Two possibilities at the moment:
- Romania - Bulgary - Serbia - Bosnia & Hercegovina - Croatia
OR the same trip, but the other way around. So starting in Croatia and ending in Romania/Bulgary depending on the timeschedule
OR the same trip, but instead of starting/finishing in Romania - finishing in Thessaloniki (Greece), as we need a cheap (ryanair/...) flight to get back to Belgium.
- Croatia - Bosnia & Hercegovina - Serbia - Hungary

EEET2012 – Day 0
This. Is. It.
Now this is not ‘It’, the famous
last shows supposed to be presented by Michael Jackson, before he died, this is
something way different.
This is the start of the EEET 2012.
What-the-fuck is that, I hear you
say?
EEET 2012 stands for: Eastern Europe Eurail Trip 2012.
| Stuff to be packed. |
A 27-day trip, on 2 planes, through
(at least) 5 countries, (at least) 12 cities, on (at least) 12 trains and without a doubt endless experiences,
meetings and stories to be told after this life changing event. Well, life changing… Will it be? I don’t
really know. Let’s be honest here, I’ve already travelled through 21 countries
during my 21 years on this planet called Earth. I’ve had plenty of experiences,
meetings and story-telling. My goal to visit at least 50 countries before I die
is almost in its half. After July 2012, it will actually be over its half.
Maybe I should adjust my dream... But let’s just see where we are when we reach 45
countries, right?
Enough said about how fabulous I am,
how great my life is and how amazing the people I meet and make friends with
are or have been. Let us look at the future... what will tomorrow bring? No one knows. The only thing I know is that
tomorrow, July 3rd 2012, I’ll be leaving, together with Toon, one of
my best friends, and Liesbeth, my girlfriend on a trip to Eastern
Europe. We’ll be going here:

| The Trip. |
Leaving by Ryanair from Eindhoven (NL) to Gdansk (Poland), heading for the Heineken Open'er Festival,
meeting all my Polish Erasmus friends in Warsaw, Poznan –where German Mädchen
Anja and Spanish chica Laura will join
us- and Krakow, travelling through the Czech Republic, meeting some of my best
Argentinean friends and my German Erasmus roommate in Munich, travelling
through Austria and Slovenia before enjoying a last week in Croatia visiting
nice cities, beaches and hopefully with the occasional party.
I decided to do this trip after
missing a visit to Argentina in January and after failing to find an internship
in the United States this semester. This
trip is more or less as well the conclusion of my Bachelor studies of Business
management with minor Marketing and Spanish at the Catholic College of Leuven,
of which I graduated June 2012.
What’s next? What will the future
bring? Where will I end up? Honestly, I don’t really care at the moment. The
only thing I am going to do the next few weeks is enjoying my trip, enjoying my
companions and trying to discover as many new things as I can: Europe’s biggest wooden pier, the world’s best know concentration camp, Croatia’s most beautiful
cities… I’ll enjoy them all in different way.
For my followers or casual readers,
I will try to update my blog as often as possible. I don’t know whether I’ll
have internet every day, every other day or even once a week. But you may be
sure that I’ll write down as much as I can, to keep you updated, to maintain
the memories for me and also a bit to make y’all jealous! Haha
Let’s
just say it the way it is: IT’S ON!

Supo Teevee: Café Doc goes international
The AFS Flanders head office was asked to come and talk about AFS during an interview for SUPO, a show made by journalism students of Lessius Mechelen. As the PR responsible couldn't make it out, they asked me to go over and 'do my thing'. Funny enough a friend of mine was the producer of the show.
All about AFS, London, the metalscene in Suriname, Bolivia and more in this (Dutch) show!
"Hoe verdien je een centje meer in Londen? Hoe ziet de metalscene eruit in Suriname? En wat is nu een typisch gerecht in Bolivië? Dit kom je allemaal te weten in deze speciale Café Doc met internationale toets."
