International Passage through Belgium

After the awesome AFS weekend in Dworp, I came home and met up with my parents again. It was nice seeing them again as in some way you always miss your home and parents when you're away. You miss them yeah, but not that much... haha

In total I was back in Belgium for two weeks. The first week I met up with most of my friends, both in Leuven as in Mechelen and surroundings, often leading to hysterical crying girls and even some boys who lost a tear of happiness when they saw me again. And no, I'm not exaggerating. Well maybe about the boys-who-lost-a-tear-part I am...
[added 16/11/2011: In Leuven, I was sitting in a bar at Oude Markt when VTM came to interview me about Pukkelpop (again!): http://vtm.be/nieuws/binnenland/75705-pukkelpop-niet-terugbetaald )
I also worked a bit as to not spend my days totally useless, and went to my college to finally arrange my Internship for next semester. Because Yes ladies and gentlemen, my school granted me authorization so if everything goes according to plan, and I hope it does, as of the 10th of February 2012 untill the end of May 2012, I'll be going to the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!  hell yeah, that's what I say to that! To be precise I will most probably be travelling between San Antonio, Texas and Chicago, Illinois during my whole stay. Hopefully I'll also get to possibilities to visit some other places. Any suggestions?

Spanish delegation and Egyptian wannabe-farao's
The second week, on tuesday, three egyptians, twins and one other, came over. They're also on Erasmus in Rennes and were visiting Belgium. The next day we went to Bruges and Ghent, together with six Spanish girls, who were staying in a hostel in Brussels, as I did not have the place to put all of them. Unfortunately, because who wouldn't love to have six Spanish chicas in his house :) After Bruges, and some inconvenient way of dinner for the Egyptians as their host (who wasn't supposed to be me that night) didn't show up, we all got back to my house. The next day we, without the Spanish girls, met up with Chris, Justyna, her boyfriend and Silke at Mechelen train station. We visited Mechelen and Leuven and at around 17hr the Egyptians took the train to Brussels and back to Rennes. With Chris and Justyna we had dinner in Leuven, good ol' belgian fries, Chris loved them (and ate 4 more portions in the next two days). Together with my friends Jonas & Toon and Chris we then went out in Leuven, where I met a lot of people as well, it was pretty cool! And I think Chris is still impressed by the Leuven nightlife, while we only came back at around 6.00.

Flemish parliament
The next day I did Bruges (again) but this time with Chris, Justyna and her boyfriend. No idea why Silke, the belgian girl who was supposed to guide these people around Belgium together with me, didn't come along. When we got back from Bruges everybody was tired, so at night we all got back to my house. Their turn to sleep over! On Saterday we got up early, too early for a saterday ha!, and went to Antwerp. We did the sightseeing there in about 2,5 hours. The Tour in Antwerp.

After this we got back on the train, to Brussels and went to visit the Flemish parliament together with Silke and her dad (Eric Tack), who sits in the Flemish parliament. After this, rather interesting visit (not being sarcastic here), we, that is Chris, Justyna and her boyfriend and me -because Silke's dad had to go and Silke left as well, no idea why again - went to visit the center of Brussels. We did most of the 'important' stuff, except for the Atomium, as it was already getting late and we had to save something that would be 'worth' visiting Belgium for a second time, besided visiting me off course, hah! The Tour in Brussels

For pictures of the whole Belgium Trip go to Picasa.

The 30th of October was my last day of the holidays. We put Chris on his train to Amsterdam, dude that guy just doens't stop travellling, and together with the Polish delegation - being Justyna and her boyfriend, together with my dad we drove all the way back to Rennes. -thanks again for that dad!-

Back in Rennes for the last month and a half of Erasmus! Times goes fast, we must not doubt and enjoy the time we have together here with other Erasmus and French people we were lucky enough to meet during this amazing experience.

I think that's all for now. Two posts on one day, I'm being generous, so don't miss reading the other one as well! See you next time, and don't forget to comment!

For people who'd like to get to know more off Belgium:
